Personality
Ganshou is a cold, calculating person. To him, everything is a variable, errors are percentages, and people are merely numbers with different names. Because of this mentality, Ganshou has no problem with taking lives or even saving them, should the need arise. If the outcome is preferable to his current situation, he'll do whatever he can to aide himself. Needless to say, anyone who stands in his way is liable to be put down, regardless of what Ganshou has to do to remove him/her. Because of his nature of doing what is best for himself in all situations, Ganshou is a True Neutral character - don't expect him to pick sides unless he benefits from the decision or the sides themselves. Hell, he'd be probably opt for his own side, if it is more desirable.
One thing many people will notice about Ganshou is that he is always very strict, formal, and serious. He rarely ever smiles or laughs, nor is he the kind of person to tell jokes - although he is known to mock others to rub salt on wounds when he feels he can. For a pirate, Ganshou is a very civil person. He has perfect posture when both walking and sitting down, and often crosses his arms behind his back. He never uses contractions in his speech, writes exclusively in a very neat cursive handwriting, and acts like a gentleman, even if chivalry isn't necessarily something that he believes in. He very rarely raises his voice or shows any sort of extreme emotion, being somewhat of a hard book to read.
Although he does have quite a temper. Quite a temper. But he isn't like most people when they get angry. Learning to bottle up emotions, Ganshou doesn't rage - he seethes. He glares and stares and quiets down and sits with himself and thinks and plots and boils with an unhealthy amount of unspoken anger. This is easily the deadliest kind of anger, the kind that isn't spontaneous but carefully planned and coordinated. Needless to say, once you've lit Ganshou's fuse, you won't be able to put it out - even if it may not explode for a little while down the way.
Ganshou is known to devise very long, drawn-out but effective plans. Generally, he is a very intelligent person, and an excellent strategist. He is incredibly observant and often unravels traps and plans of others rather effectively, requiring minimal information to decipher these plans.
Ganshou's main goal as a pirate is to nab the One Piece, just as most other pirates want. He's in the adventure for one thing and one thing only - the fame. Ganshou is very power-hungry. He doesn't respect humans as being humans, but he does want to stand above them. He wants the entire world to know that he is leagues ahead of them in every single way, and he wants to rub it in absolutely everyone's faces. When he has obtained the One Piece, he plans to use the expected riches to buy his own army of hired, powerful pirates and use it to overthrow the military by force, effectively becoming the new world power and gaining control of the sea for good. This is his longest running plan of revenge, and it drives most of his actions as well as his consequences.
APPEARANCE
Height 5' 11''
Weight 150 lbs
Appearance
Ganshou is a pale-skinned man of barely under six feet who has long, dark black hair that sprouts down-and-out from the top of his head. His eyes are a deep brown, and almost diamond in shape. Although he is not particularly muscular, his muscles are well defined from training and combat and he possesses quite a bit of physical strength.
What Ganshou normally wears is somewhat of a mockery of a very decadent military uniform. A cross between a tuxedo and a trench-coat, Ganshou's black and red-trimmed outfit is styled after an incredibly pompous military outfit, even topped with a fleet hat that not only marks him as the captain of his crew, but spits in the faces of actual military captains. To finish his outfit, his boots rise up to just under his knee and are decorated with many more buckles than they need, and his hands are covered by white gloves.
TALENTS
Fighting Style
While Ganshou was a promising hand-to-hand combatant in his military training, after getting his devil fruit, his technique and capability increased quite a bit. He focuses on landing hard, crippling blows which end a fight as quickly as possible, using his magma to hit vital, important organs and locations. Needless to say, he dislikes dragging a battle on for too long and won't if he doesn't have to. Because of his devil fruit being a Logia type, Ganshou tends not to fear other combatants, regardless of what they can do.
Capabilities
Ganshou is an incredibly intelligent person, and an amazing strategist. He employs this strategy in combat, of course, and always seems to take the leadership reigns when he can and/or has to.
Weapons
While Ganshou used to specialize in weapons, now he doesn't. Still, he carries with him two flintlock pistols in the event that they are required. They are basically as standard as you can get - one-shot-per handguns that shoot musket balls.
Items
None.

Special Powers
Techniques
Magu Magu no Mi, The most basic use of Ganshou's Devil Fruit, the Magu-Magu no Mi, which allows him to literally become magma at will. This can be used to avoid blows, deliver counter attacks, surprise enemies, or a variety of other uses. In its most basic form, this technique is not offensive, but can certainly cause damage.
Magu Magu Migifuku, A simple technique utilizing his devil fruit, Ganshou morphs his arm into solid magma and swipes at an enemy for a heavily-modified punch. Can cause burning, and may even melt some substances.
Magu Magu Bakuhatsu, By turning his arm into magma, Ganshou can thrust it into the ground and send his magma underfoot towards a target, where it erupts in a large pillar of molten lava. This technique does more collateral damage than one might think, often burning a path along where it is used.
Magu Magu Ryoumatsu, By turning his fist into magma, Ganshou can thrust his arm at a target and 'launch' his burning fist, which may burn through most materials and inflict serious injuries. Ganshou may recreate his lost hand out of magma.

Goals
As stated above, Ganshou wants to bring down the military. The plan he's created to enact his vengeance is through obtaining the One Piece, so much like other pirates, Ganshou has set sail to find the mystical treasure. When he gets a hold of this treasure, he'll use the promise of billions upon billions of belly to rally his own personal pirate army, and use it to overthrow the Marines. This is only the best case scenario, of course.
Although, he does have something else he wants to do when he reaches the grand line - he wants to find his father, who may or may not be alive, and find w
History
Ganshou was born as a naive boy to a marine father and a very ill mother. Although she wasn't terminal, she spent most of Ganshou's childhood in a bed, secluded from the rest of the house, where Ganshou tried to avoid talking and interacting with her. This was because his mother scared him - seeing her, crippled in that bed for basically the rest of her life, Ganshou thought that she was depressing and instead turned to his father for support. Kyosu Damari was a very well respected man in the Marines - he'd been of a relatively-high rank, was very devoted to protecting the seas from pirates. He was a great role model from Ganshou, but he was rarely home, and seemed to not care all too much for his or his mother's well being. Because of this, Ganshou spent most of his childhood alone. And he wouldn't have had it any other way. While the other boys played marines and pirates with sticks, Ganshou hit the books, reading up and studying battle maneuvers and boat schematics and general marine law. His fixation with his father lead to his first true ambition - to become a marine.
Ganshou officially enlisted in the marines at age sixteen, three years after his mother fell to the disease that had been gripping her for so long. With nothing tying him to his home, it was the perfect time for Ganshou to become a marine. He never saw his father anymore. He was much too high in rank for him to visit normally, and spent absolutely every day since his wife's death in the Grand Line, doing whatever it was that the Marines did to stop pirates. In essence, Ganshou lost the two parents who he never truly wanted. During his time training to develop as a soldier, he was looked on by everyone as being 'The Great Kyosu's Son', even if he wanted to tell them that his father may not have been as great as he claims to be. Naturally, Ganshou had a lot of weight on his shoulders and large shoes to fill, but as it turns out, they fit him snugly. But he was no class genius - he excelled in marksmanship and hand-to-hand combat especially, but he was pretty standard when it came to leadership or navigation or first aide. Generally, his future didn't look bad - but it didn't look good, either. Granted, this was probably another reason that his father never returned to visit him.
When he completed his training at age eighteen, he became a private stationed in shells town. He spent a good few months there, but he wanted more out of his army life than to be kept in his home town. His break came through to him when he stopped a suspicious cargo boat which was transporting contraband between Shells Town and Conomi Island. This weapons bust was enough to earn him a promotion, and he was relocated to Logue Town, as part of the force of military stationed there to kidnap pirates.
Ganshou spent quite some time in Logue Town. He was there until he was about twenty-four years old, and had been promoted to a captain of a small squad of marines which specialized in boarding and capturing pirate-ships that docked in the port, which was a perfect spot for the marines to stand at. His little squad was so successful that he was recommended to be moved from Logue Town to the Grand Line, and he prepared to leave - but before he could, there was an attack on the marine outpost in Logue Town by a group of notoriously powerful pirates, the likes of which the marines in the port city had never seen before, and the squad was butchered. Ganshou was the only one of two marines who survived the attack, but it was not smooth sailing from there.
As soon as they were discovered to be alive, both of them were prosecuted as pirate spies. The claims were ridiculous, but Ganshou and the other marine were both passed through the system as if they had committed a terrible crime, which they knew they could not be held accountable for. He doesn't know what happened to the other marine, but Ganshou was transported back to Shells town, where he was thrown in prison to stay until he died there. Completely dumbfounded by the entire turn of events, Ganshou soon heard that the Shichibukai were the ones who attacked the Logue Town outpost. In fact, the attack itself was formulated similarly to a common marine maneuver - the marines planned that attack, and the Shichibukai were their tools. Ganshou was framed by the corrupt officials he was working for, and the thought of that caused a burning rage to well up in his chest.
When he was twenty-six, he planned his escape. After he was released for daily exercises, he slammed the guard's head into the bars of his cell, leaving himself unattended and running rampant. Soon after, the search order was called after him - but he had no place to go. Without any idea of how he would run, he stowed away in the marine supply facility, where he accidentally discovered something amazing. Inside one of the boxes he accidentally knocked over was a Devil Fruit. Deciding that eating it was his best bet at escaping, he devoured it and used his newfound powers to release himself, taking shelter in Shells Town.
A year later, it is time for him to come out of hiding and begin his new adventure, driven by his new hate - he was to bring down the Marines.

|| This is an excerpt from something I wrote on a different site, playing Kakuzu from Naruto ||
It was a very cloudy day. Storms from Iwagakure were making their way down, towards the village hidden in the grass - the rumbling of the thunder could easily be heard from miles away, here at the Tenchi Bridge. It had been a long time since Kakuzu had last visited this bridge. It was very large, meaning it was very open - Kakuzu had never wanted to get spotted before. Especially not now. He sat underneath the bridge, upside-down and crouched with slightly-glowing feet sticking him to the underside of the wooden walkway. In his hand was a crumpled piece of paper, upon which specific information was written. Nothing too complicated, just a time, a location, a date, and a name. It was all Kakuzu needed, at any rate. He'd been approached by a lone Jonin, one from Konohagakure no less, and not with the intent to kill Kakuzu. Instead, he merely handed him a slip, and promised him all the Ryo he could possibly want. How could Kakuzu say no? The jonin would pay him for this - but in the end, he would just kill the Jonin and cash both dead shinobi in for more than a little quick buck. The idea of a triple-whammy is what really caused Kakuzu to decide to actually go through with this, as he could have just as easily said no.
This was a tactical mission. He recognized the name on the paper - it was an Iwagakure ninja, and one of very high esteem. Kakuzu'd encountered this shinobi once before, many moons ago, and just seeing his name would have brought a chuckle to Kakuzu's stomach if he wasn't, you know, Kakuzu. It was hard to tell the time with the overcast, but he could tell that his target was approaching by the soft but noticeable footsteps at the other end of the bridge. Soon after his target arrived, the rain did. Soft pattering filled his ears, and it was a pretty lucky turn of events. The rain would surely be useful - Kakuzu would make sure of that. He dropped the paper and brought his hands together, forming hand seals. Just as the other shinobi (By the footsteps, Kakuzu counted three) reached the center-most point of the bridge, a deep fog began to roll over the sides of the wooden path. Instantly, they stopped. Obviously shinobi; that level of observance isn't shown anywhere else.
The three of them moved closer to one another as the mist rolled over their feet, completely blinding them to the bridge itself. As it crept up, and up, and up, their vision was slowly and completely masked by the hazy white shroud. Now was the time to move. His footsteps were heavy on the underside of the bridge, and he could hear the group mumbling, but he paid no mind to the both of them. After jumping off, all was silent. He let them continue forward a few feet, bundled together, before making the first move. With a swipe, Kakuzu sent his lower arm springing at one of the Shinobi, completely taking him by surprised from the side of the head and whipping him off the edge with little effort. His screams continued until a faint 'thump' echoed beneath the bridge, signalling his death. The remaining two got tighter, and Kakuzu was about to go in for round two when another voice rang out.
"Fuuton! Reppusho!"
Kakuzu braced himself as a large gust of wind emanated from the shinobi, blowing the mist away in an invisible dome around them. Kakuzu's position was revealed, standing at the far side of the bridge, his arm being sewn back into place. As soon as he was revealed, he became a target for the Fuuton-wielding shinobi - a Kunoichi, no less, with a lot
of courage to rush at Kakuzu like she had. He pulled his cloaked hand into a fist, the skin darkening into blackness, before sending a lethal punch to the woman's lower chest when she was close enough, before she could draw the katana on her back to retaliate. He could feel the crack of ribs and the wind shoot out of her gut, no pun intended, before he allowed her to drop to the ground. Temporarily, he shifted his gaze over to the non-injured shinobi. His target.
"It's been a while, Shiranbo."
